Structure of Women's Health Services at Multi-Hospital Systems

Women’s health services vary widely across institutions, from obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) to dedicated women’s centers that cater to women’s health needs at all life stages. Further, health systems vary widely in their structure, from organizational structures that function without system-level executives to interdisciplinary guidance councils that oversee all operations. However, because of varying infrastructures and financial obstacles, most system executives do not maintain truly integrated multidisciplinary women’s service lines. Rather, physicians from a number of specialties often work in a dedicated women’s center but do not regularly collaborate on cases.
