The Johns Hopkins Go Team, a team of clinicians formed 10 years ago to respond to natural disasters, has conducted almost 700 tests for Covid-19 at five homeless shelters hit by the disease, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Kentucky, Maryland, and Tennessee.
- Kentucky: Norton Healthcare will open the first permanent drive-thru health screening facility in Kentucky at the end of the year. - Maryland: The Johns Hopkins Go Team, a team of clinicians from Johns Hopkins Health System formed 10 years ago to respond to natural disasters, has conducted almost 700 tests for Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, at five homeless shelters hit by the disease. Kevin Lindamood, executive director of Healthcare for the Homeless, said Johns Hopkins recognized the importance of responding to clusters of Covid-19 cases popping up at large shelters because "if there were a cluster that lingered there, it was gonna spread rapidly" (McLeod, Baltimore Business Journal, 5/26).
- Tennessee: Tivity Health has announced that Richard Ashworth, president of Walgreens, will be its new president and CEO, effective June 1. Ashworth will succeed Robert Greczyn Jr., who has been serving as interim CEO since February (Stinnett, Nashville Business Journal, 5/22).
