Around the nation: St. Louis Children's Hospital sends 200 teddies to Boston Children's Hospital after Boston Stanley Cup loss

Daily Briefing

The St. Louis Blues beat the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals earlier this month, which led the St. Louis hospital to send the conciliatory gift to their peers in Boston, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from the District of Columbia, Missouri, and Texas.

    • District of Columbia: Wright Lassiter III will serve as the new board chair of America's Essential Hospitals, effective July 1. Lassiter, president and CEO of Henry Ford Health System, has served on the association's board of directors since 2014. He will succeed Joseph Scott, EVP of health care transformation for RWJBarnabas Health (Castellucci, Modern Healthcare, 6/20).
    • Missouri: St. Louis Children's Hospital on Wednesday sent 200 teddy bears to patients at Boston Children's Hospital following the Boston Bruins' loss to the St. Louis Blues in the Stanley Cup Finals. St. Louis Children's said the bears are a thank you for a well-played Stanley Cup tournament (Asmelash/Ries, CNN, 6/19).
    • Texas: When Clay Cameron and Sky Howard learned Cameron's 100-year-old grandmother, Charlotte Bussard, might not live to attend their 2020 wedding ceremony, the couple decided to hold a special ceremony at Hemphill County Hospital. Bussard is currently in hospice at the hospital. "Everyone in the room was warm and happy," said Amy Taylor, the photographer for the big day (Pelletiere, "Good Morning America," ABC News, 6/21).
