- Kentucky: Humana has named William Shrank CMO, effective April 1. Shrank currently serves as the CMO of the insurance services division at UPMC Health Plan and will succeed Roy Beveridge, who is retiring (Truong, MedCity News, 1/15; Haefner, Becker's Hospital Review, 1/15).
- New York: New York has seen 182 confirmed cases of measles as of Thursday, making this the state's worst measles outbreak in decades. The vast majority of those with the disease are members of the Orthodox Jewish community, which has been resistant to receiving vaccinations (Otterman, New York Times, 1/17).
- Texas: Parkland Health & Hospital System next month will break ground on a $154 million building that will house a comprehensive breast care center, as well as administrative offices. The building will be 525,000 square feet and is expected to open in 2021 (Vartorella, Becker's Hospital Review, 1/15).
