- California: Cedars-Sinai and Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday announced a plan to collaborate on care coordination and access to care. According to Modern Healthcare, the affiliation will involve sharing resources and boosting access to medical research and clinical trials. The affiliation still requires approval by state regulatory agencies, a process that is expected to take about six months. If approved, a new parent organization will be established to oversee the affiliation—both Cedars-Sinai and Memorial Medical Center will remain independent, Modern Healthcare reports (Castellucci, Modern Healthcare, 5/10).
- Ohio: Cleveland Clinic Children has announced it will install more than 85 cameras at various campus locations to enable the parents of NICU infants to view their children via a video feed. The webcam system is called NicView, and the cameras will be mounted to each infant's bed, where nurses can move or turn it off when treating the patient. The NICU will issue parents usernames and passwords to access the feed from any internet-accessible device, and the footage will not be recorded or stored (Dietsche, MedCity News, 5/10).
- Pennsylvania: Geisinger Health System has signed a letter of intent with HighMark, a Blue Cross Blue Shield-affiliated organization, to establish a clinical joint venture. Under the agreement, the organizations will explore establishing a clinical network for policyholders, as well as Medicare Advantage beneficiaries, in four counties in north central Pennsylvania. The organizations did not disclose financial or structural details of the joint venture, but they said preliminary plans include a new health campus in Montoursville (Haefner, Becker's Hospital Review, 5/10).
