Sneak peek of our 2019 sessions
This year's theme reflects a major question circulating the industry right now: How should provider organizations respond to continued pressure to build their business and advance their organization's digital strategy?
As always, we will kick off the summit with the latest Advisory Board "State of the Union." Here's a sneak peek of our IT-specific 2019 sessions:
Build your digital front door
Basic portals and search engine optimization are no longer enough. Modern digital health systems are increasingly rolling out comprehensive digital experiences that support their patients at every step of the health journey. From search, to scheduling, to care delivery, to follow up and support, learn what services patients actually use and how to adapt existing systems and processes to deliver the digital experience patients want.

Assemble the digital transformation dream team
Health care IT skills are critical to support the innovative solutions deployed in these transformative times. IT leaders face several new imperatives for success:

- Become a strategic partner with non-IT leaders;
- Embrace new opportunities that arise from new technology; and
- Find the capacity to innovate.
This presentation will provide tactics for IT leaders to cultivate the skills and resources to excel in digital transformation.

30-minute break out sessions
Natural language processing 101
Natural language processing (NLP) is a subset of technologies within the artificial intelligence ecosystem that allows computers to analyze, understand, and derive meaning from text and speech similar to humans. Among its various applications, NLP technology can convert clinical notes, patient narratives, academic journals text, radiology and lab interpretations, and other unstructured data into actionable information—whether at the point of decision making or for back-end analytics. This 30-minute presentation will provide an overview of NLP for both IT and non-IT leaders as they plan for the next stage of digital transformation.

Precision Medicine 101
Precision medicine has the potential to dramatically transform health care delivery. However, as with any major investments, health system leaders need to take a thoughtful approach to implement a precision medicine program. IT leaders in particular are challenged to effectively acquire, share, and use massive new data streams (e.g., genomics, social determinants of health data, patient-reported information) across patient cohorts and partner ecosystems. This 30-minute presentation will provide an introduction to the field of precision medicine, and give some initial strategic steps for IT leaders to prepare for the new era of patient care.

How to negotiate win-win technology contracts
It is increasingly important to negotiate contracts that align the interests of buyers and vendors to deliver long-term mutual value. In a competitive market, vendors must find new ways to serve provider partners while they deliver strong financial performance. Though contracting is often viewed as a competitive exercise, win-win contracts can lay the foundation for mutually beneficial, long-term relationships. This 30-minute session is intended for anyone with a stake in the technology negotiations and contracting process. We'll present a framework to approach IT contracting and offer best practices and anecdotes to find common ground and cultivate strong buyer-vendor relationships.

EHR optimization: A prescription for clinician burnout
The EHR has become the "face" of clinician burnout, but it is just one part of the broader clinician wellness picture. Burnout has a clear link to care quality, patient safety, and clinician health and well-being. IT, business, and clinical leaders must approach the problem holistically. This 30-minute presentation will describe the EHR's role in clinician burnout, and offer practical recommendations to address this growing problem.
