As many leaders of medical staff are painfully aware, an organization-wide survey will not capture the drivers unique to—and most effective for—engaging physicians. Because physicians are typically more time-constrained, data-driven, and outcomes-focused than other hospital and health system staff members, we’ve developed a survey instrument specific to them.

A survey rooted in thorough research
We developed the Physician Engagement Survey through an exhaustive review of academic literature on physician engagement; an assessment of currently available surveys; staff focus groups; and interviews with industry experts, hospital and health system CMOs, executives of employed medical groups, and executives of large specialty clinics. The resulting survey:
- Can be administered and analyzed online, eliminating paperwork
- Requires less than 10 minutes for completion
- Can be administered on a PDA
- Allows customization with up to 10 organization-specific questions
- Offers pulse-survey capability
- Generates results reports allowing detailed examination of various engagement-related workplace attributes
- Ensures confidentiality of all survey responses
- Enables benchmarking by specialty and respondent characteristics such as specialty type, degree, years in medicine, practice type, and tenure with the organization
