The second intensive of the Advisory Board Fellowship focuses on the large scale macro-level forces that are shaping the health care industry. From demographics, to economics, technology and politics; there is no way to escape the forces that are rapidly changing the very nature of the care that hospitals need to deliver and the ways that we interact with patient’s, colleagues, and data. I don’t know how many of you heard this story today, but many of us in Talent Development at the Advisory Board are frequent fliers, and airline stories always get our attention. All eyes here in Washington, and across the health care industry, are transfixed by the Supreme Court’s three-day hearings on the Patient Protection and Accountable Care Act. The court has set aside six hours across three days (the most time given to any case in the last 45 years) to consider the constitutionality of the law.
