As the incidence of pediatric obesity continues to grow in the United States, countless organizations have emerged to combat this trend. Yet, the "Mom in Chief" may have just changed the game on a much grander scale. Announcing an ambitious goal to eliminate childhood obesity within a generation, Michelle Obama launched the "Let's Move" campaign this week. While this announcement once more thrusts the current administration into health care, this situation is a much less contentious one which will presumably receive widespread endorsement. And it already has from many, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, who will encourage all their members to check children's BMI at all visits, while providing suggests around healthy and active living, as part of the movement. However, that's merely a small portion of the movement, which has an all encompassing approach and will impact constituencies from schools to grocery stores to private foundations.
