At this year’s Society of Thoracic Surgeons' (STS) meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Fla, the weekend Tech-Con—held by STS in partnership with the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons (AATS)— highlighted the technologies within the cardiothoracic terrain that are transforming the way patient care is provided.

The Tech-Con forum focused on a range of topics, from innovative heart failure therapies to up-and-coming mitral valve devices to clinician’s thoughts on the merits of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) versus more traditional open surgical approaches. These discussions were framed by the themes of disease center-based organizational models for care delivery and the changing reimbursement structure anticipated in coming years.
