Between concerns about Intuitive’s irresponsible sales practices and lax training standards, questionable clinical benefits, and difficult-to-justify cost, an alternative to its da Vinci surgical robot would be a welcome arrival on the market.

Unfortunately for wishful thinkers, Intuitive’s competitors are still years away from finalizing their products, gaining FDA approval, and becoming available for installment in hospitals and health systems.
