The Philanthropy Leadership Performance Benchmarking Initiative uses comparative analyses to deliver insights on the drivers of effectiveness in hospital philanthropy. Members who submit their most recent fiscal year funds raised and expenses data receive a rigorous benchmarking report containing comparisons of their own foundation or development office’s performance on key fundraising metrics to that of peer institutions from the Philanthropy Leadership Council’s database. Submitters will also receive access to the Online Performance Analyzer, which can be used to compare performance to custom cohorts.

Submitting Your Data

The Philanthropy Leadership Council is currently collecting data representing the most recently completed fiscal year from all members. We are accepting submissions on a rolling basis; as such, we will return a customized report to participants within one month of finalizing the submission. To get started, please carefully read the Data Submission Guide and proceed as instructed.

    Online Tool—The Performance Analyzer

    Members may access and analyze the Council’s database of foundation revenue and expense performance using the Performance Analyzer, which houses data collected through our benchmarking initiative. Users may view performance statistics for all participating foundations or narrow their analysis to focus on a smaller cohort.
