When working with marketing and finance departments, development officers have reported three fundamental issues: They work on different timeframes, their priorities are misaligned, and they do not speak the same “language.”

As a result, relationships with these departments become transactional, at best. Meanwhile, foundations and development offices are being challenged to maximize relationships across the hospital and systems to increase efficiencies and reduce costs.
