Last week, GE Healthcare announced its acquisition of U-Systems, Inc., the company that produces the somo.v Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) system. The acquisition signals that one of the largest manufacturers of breast imaging technology believes ABUS has more than a niche role moving forward.

A study in the October issue of Radiology has published some of the earliest findings on the effects of breast density legislation for a state’s patient population.
Aiming to “determine performance and utilization of screening breast ultrasonography (US) in women with dense breast tissue who underwent additional screening breast US in the 1st year since implementation of Connecticut Public Act 09-41,” the study was undertaken by six physicians at the Yale University School of Medicine.
