In June, CMS announced the final list of Health Care Innovation grant recipients for 2012. Two of the 33 recipients, Altaraum Institute and Imaging Advantage, earned grants for far-reaching initiatives to reduce unnecessary imaging across Michigan and Illinois, respectively.
The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation focuses on a tripartite mission to improve health care delivery, improve overall population health, and lower health care costs for CMS.
The Innovation Awards specifically seek to engage and test alternative delivery and payment models that produce better outcomes, identify new models for training and development, and support innovators “who can rapidly deploy care improvement models.
