A new protocol developed by the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP) may help dramatically reduce unnecessary biopsies following CT nodule detection. The findings, published in the recently released February issue of American Journal of Roentgenology, are based on the results of a six-year clinical study conducted on 4,782 high-risk CT lung screening patients that received subsequent treatment based on the new protocol.
