A recent Health Care Advisory Board presentation titled “The New Performance Standard” highlights the challenges hospitals will face over the next 10 years and the changes that will be required—even if there is only minimal movement to more accountable reimbursement approaches.
Many of these changes must be enabled by IT. Fortunately, the IT-enabled capabilities needed are synergistic with what many health care organizations are already doing or planning on doing for meaningful use, ICD-10, and accountable care.
