HHS broke its silence on Stage 2 timing earlier this week, suggesting that it intends to delay Stage 2 to 2014 for 2011 attesters. Eligible professionals (EPs) will benefit from this change since they have until December 30, 2011, to complete a 90-day reporting period that counts toward CY 2011 and until February 29, 2012, to attest. By contrast, the last day for eligible hospitals (EHs) to attest for FY 2011 was November 30, 2011. As a result, only hospitals that attested for FY 2011 already will benefit from HHS’s announcement.
