The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently released a request for applications for the Pioneer ACO Model, an accelerated path to ACO formation for those with prior experience managing risk. While the Pioneer ACO Model bears many similarities to its predecessor, the Medicare Shared Savings Program, the Pioneer ACO Model contains several unique parameters that will help inform organizations’ decisions on participation.
