As a Director with Southwind, Peter provides interim practice management, group practice assessments, and strategic planning services to health system-sponsored physician enterprises. Through his Southwind role, Peter has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer of a federally qualified, JCAHO-accredited, nonprofit community health center that provides ambulatory care. With more than 30 years of physician practice management experience, Peter serves clients by providing technical expertise, leadership, and guidance to medical group clients on a wide variety of clinical and operational issues.
Prior to joining Southwind, Peter served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of PVM & Associates in Middletown, N.J. This entrepreneurial venture was launched by Peter to provide health care professional consulting services. Through PVM & Associates, Peter worked with clients to provide expertise in a variety of areas, including grants and contract administration, multisite operations management, health information exchange, accountable care organizations, Federally Qualified Health Centers, senior staff recruitment, corporate compliance, and network development.
Previously, Peter served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Newark Community Health Centers Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center that operates a network of free standing, full-service 501(c)(3)-designated health centers within the clinically underserved cities of Newark, Irvington, Orange, and East Orange. Peter was recruited by the company’s board of directors to expand and strengthen the delivery of health services across the network, lead organizational changes, and improve operational efficiencies. During his time with NCHC, Peter’s major accomplishments included the following:
- Implemented electronic health records across the network and linked NCHC to a health information exchange
- Increased grant funding by more than 25 percent
- Boosted patient volume by more than 20 percent and significantly improved customer service / satisfaction ratings
- Recipient of the largest facility improvement grant in the state of New Jersey ($6.4 million)
- Built strong relationships with acute care facilities and key stakeholders
- Responsible for strategic planning, business development, clinical, operations, financial and facility oversight
Peter has also served in executive leadership roles with organizations including New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, Interfaith Medical Center, and Lutheran Health Care.
Peter holds a Master of Public Health / Health Care Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in speech pathology from Brooklyn College.
