A top concern for hospital executives, physician alignment has taken on an even greater sense of urgency in today’s market. With the evolution of health reform and the rise of new accountable payment models—which will shift the risk for cost and quality to providers—hospitals are under pressure to build a pluralistic medical staff, engaging physicians as true partners in the delivery of high-quality, low-cost, coordinated care.

In evaluating common physician alignment models, only two models have all of the components needed to be successful in a new accountable care environment: physician employment and Clinical Integration (CI). Clinical Integration, however, is a strategy that can be used to align both employed and independent physicians around performance improvement, creating a unified platform for a pluralistic medical staff.

This complimentary session will be hosted by Laurie Sprung, PhD, Senior Vice President of Southwind, and will give you the opportunity to learn the core components of building a CI program that can be used to propel your organization into the era of accountable care. Key takeaways from this session will include:

  • The existing physician alignment models and their applicability for accountable care;
  • How to build an engaged, pluralistic medical staff; and
  • The guiding principles of Clinical Integration.
